The Boneyard Skatepark

The Boneyard Skatepark is an indoor skatepark facility coming soon to Sherwood Park. The facility will operate year round and will be a safe and supervised park where skateboarders, BMX riders and scooters can enjoy a professional skatepark experience.

In order to generate interest and excitement in our skatepark project we are asking for your support. Please take the time to consider our story and contribute to our shared project. Any funds received will go directly into providing the best possible park experience to the children in our community. In return for your donation you will receive one of our gifts ranging from admission passes to t-shirts. In order for this project to be successful, we need support to build a community so please share our story with your friends and family.

Community Need

Sherwood Park needs an indoor skatepark facility. Youths in Sherwood Park and surrounding area are limited in their choices for activities through the winter months. Keeping their children active is a priority for parents and if their children don't have an interest in hockey, it can be difficult for parents to find alternative activities. Children who skateboard, scooter or ride BMX are forced to find a different sport during the winter. Those children need a safe and supervised indoor skatepark to continue their favorite sports when the weather turns cold. Also, being able to participate in their sport of choice year round will allow them to develop further if they choose to compete.

The only current skatepark available if you ride a skateboard, scooter or BMX bike is an outdoor skatepark located near Millenium Place. The outdoor skatepark is showing it's age and is due for reconstruction. Finding another skatepark requires driving to Edmonton.

Our Vision

The Boneyard Skatepark will be a professional indoor skatepark located in Sherwood Park. The park will operate year round providing a supervised park experience to riders of all ages and skill levels. The park will provide additional services including a concession, rental equipment, group and birthday packages, lessons and free workshops. Building a community of riders that focuses on inclusivity will be a priority making riders of all skill levels feel welcome.

The project is currently in the planning and development phase. A significant portion of funds has been invested and we are seeking bank financing for the remaining portion. Several milestones have been met, The Boneyard Skatepark has been incorporated, initial financing has been secured and a journeyman carpenter with extensive skatepark building experience has been recruited.

Our Story

I am a parent with two teenage boys living in Sherwood Park. I grew up in Sherwood Park and love the community. Raising my children in Sherwood Park has been a very positive experience.

As my children have grown I found that options for children's activities was continually increasing. However, I struggled to keep my children active in the winter months when both my children grew out of hockey before they were teenagers. Both children became members at the local ski area but I found that we were still subject to weather conditions.

As a parent with children active in riding skateboards, scooters, and BMX bikes, I realized that Sherwood Park had a need for a year round indoor skatepark facility.

Thank you for taking the time to consider our story and if you share our vision please consider providing a donation. In return you will receive a gift and hopefully share in our experience.
