Hi I’m Thea,
I have the determination and the potential to be the best in the world. Now I've been offered an amazing opportunity to go to America and achieve my dream but I need your help to accept it .
Skiing is my life. I’ve been skiing since I was 2 years old and I’m 15 now. When I was 11, I started competing in freestyle; the same year I won silver at my first British Championships. Since then I’ve been totally hooked.
Skiing is the most important thing in my world (apart from my family). It’s my passion and I get a buzz out of it every day. My ambition is to compete at the X Games and the Winter Olympics. For the past 3 winters I’ve been training with snowboarders in Austria and Italy. I’m unique because I think of myself as a snowboarder on skis! Last year I won my first European competition, skiing against athletes with much more training and experience than me.
Until now I thought it would be impossible for me to step up to the international circuit and compete with the best athletes in the world; skiing full time is very expensive and my parents are on low incomes so can’t afford all the training that I need. But now I’ve been given an amazing opportunity to move to America for my skiing training and schooling. I’ve been offered a supported place at Windells Academy in Oregon, which is actually unbelievable. Please could you help me to take up this opportunity?
Windells is a freestyle academy whose previous athletes include the best skiers in the world, such as Nick Goepper and Alex Beaulieu Marchand; and they want me! Windells selected me because they want to support a British freestyle skier with the potential to become an Olympian. At Windells I could be trained by the world’s top coaches and compete in events that are stepping stones to the Olympics and the X Games. I would also be helped to keep up with my school work.
Although I have some fantastic sponsors and support from Windells and SportsAid, I need to find £15,000 to be able to take up the place I’ve been offered. This includes things like:
· Flights to America
· Competition entry fees, travel and accommodation
· Medical and travel insurance
· Visa costs
· Equipment
· Academic costs
I am hard working and totally committed to achieving my dream. I hope you are interested in helping me. I would be massively grateful for any contributions however small to help me go to America. Your donation will help me on my journey to becoming an Olympian.
