                                                 The Y.Y. House

The YY House is named after 2 remarkable individuals whose lives were dedicated to helping others. Over the past year, The YY House has been a staple within the Jewish Recovery Community of California. Twice a month we have an average of 45 individuals join us in a Carlebach Minyan followed by a delicious homemade meal (including homemade challah, everyone’s favorite). In addition, we have a weekly AA meeting attended by 20-30 individuals, have placed countless people into treatment centers, have done numerous interventions, and have guided families with resources to help their loved ones out.

The YY House’s reach has extended to helping families in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, and many other cities around the Country. Our vision is to keep finding unique approaches to bring Jewish people in recovery together, along with expanding our resources to helping those that are still in need.

This past year has proven to us the need for this organization. We would like to thank those who have helped make it possible and continue to do so. We are reaching out to ask more people to get involved, whether it is on a volunteer or funding basis. As we all know, to run a program like this sadly does have its costs. This past year our average monthly cost was roughly $3,400, plus an additional $9,500 of startup costs including, security deposit for the house, tables, chairs, accountant, etc. Bringing our yearly overheard to $50,300

Our goal this upcoming year is to build off that, and expanding our reach to more people in need. Due to a rent increase of $500 a month, and the funding for the continuous growth, we are looking to raise $65,000 to allow us to continue this upcoming year. Below are a few testimonials from a couple individuals who have benefited from The YY House and everything it stands for.

The Y.Y. House is a great place where I have been able to continue to maintain my sober support network, meet friends and grow spiritually. Tzvi Heber is an inspiring individual that gives hope and helps bring camaraderie between all those that suffer with the disease of addiction. Whether it’s his amazing Shabbos meals or just a Sunday watching football with the guys, it always feels like home away from home. I’m so grateful to the Y.Y. House and I’m looking forward to seeing it grow in the future and continue to help more people!

The Y.Y. House is truly a special place. It is a wonderful feeling to be surrounded by men and women from religious or traditional families who are finding their paths in life after battling addiction. It’s a safe, warm environment that always feels like a real mishpocha.

The Y.Y. House has been my home away from home for the past year during my stay in California. I was treated like family every time I showed up. It’s truly a blessing to have an organization like the Y.Y. House in my life and I am forever grateful.
