The Snowman Needs Our Help

Embracing one of his many passions, Neil set out on a blue bird day with his friend Dan to do a photoshoot at Wildcat Mountain. Sunday was a beautiful, warm day- seemingly perfect to hit the slopes for one last hurrah. On his third run he hit a slushy bump at mach speed and was hurled onto his shoulder and back, breaking his right collar bone in two places.
Everyone knows how incredibly cost prohibitive health insurance has become, and unfortunately Neil, being self-employed, doesn't have any. Neil would much prefer to 'tough it out' and heal naturally, but due to the nature of the 2 breaks and the resulting 'floating bone' the doc said if he didn't get the surgery he'd be "deformed". Questionable bedside manner with that expression, but clearly there weren't options to mull over, it was clear he 100% needed to get surgery.
Neil just got wheeled into surgery, looking both adorable and pitiful in his 'johnnie' and transparent head cap. I'm sitting in the waiting room trying to stay cool and calm as my little love is being fixed up. From his research, its looking like the approximate cost is going to be $53K (yes, I said FIFTY THREE THOUSAND dollars)- $15K just for the metal plate alone that they are 'installing' (for lack of a better term).
Neil never, ever asks for anything- I mean never. The doctors suggested he do a gofundme page and he felt embarrassed (as did I) and immediately dismissed the idea. We are absolutely not hand out people. I then realized that this is EXACTLY what a gofundme page is for- helping people in emergency situations. As my friend Ryan so perfectly put it "he's not asking for money to fund a trip to Hawaii to go 'find himself' on a yoga retreat". This is one of the absolute best guys I've ever known that had a snowboard accident and needs our help.
Neil is, without question, the best guy I know. His passion and positive outlook on life are contagious as well as inspiring. He goes through life everyday with so much joy and truly spreads it to those he interacts with daily. If you can help make life a little easier for the "Snowman" and defray some of this enormous bill, he would be beyond grateful!!
