The Ruby Stage at Burning Man
Donation protected
For ten years the Avant Yard has acted as a vibrant home for artists of all disciplines on Playa. We pride ourselves on our commitment to the Ten Principals, acculturating our friends and neighbors, and to keeping the experience of a Burning Man village open to those of limited financial means by setting low dues that cover only the cost of storage and transportation for our infrastructure each year.
The Ruby stage has been chosen as the official project for the 6:00 Plaza for Burning Man 2018. With our population of performers and visual artists, the Avant Yard hopes to create a unique and visually striking public performance art space in the center of the 6:00 Plaza for the citizens of our beloved Black Rock City.
Our hope is to transport seven beautiful sculptures to tell the story of a community exploring the place of technology on the ever evolving canvas that is Burning Man. The sculptures comprise of two robots, two six foot tall crystals, and three tripod "virus" sculptures, made by local artists Mikey Butzine and Mich Meyers who live and work in Phoenix, Arizona. At the center of these sculptures will sit the Ruby Stage, a public performance art space in the form of an elevated 18x10 platform with a red velvet skirting.
We ask for your support in the form of donations to help us cover some of the cost of transporting these pieces from Arizona out to Black Rock City. We're dragging these things a long way from home--every little bit is going to count to get them out to our beloved community.
Dusty hugs!
