The Navigant Story

First Mate Zee and his crew found this beautiful 1973 Cal 27’ abandoned at a local dock. We proceeded to spend months repairing her and gearing her for its initial voyage to Connecticut and back. While repairing, we put it countless hours and fixated on basic safety issues. We named the vessel Navigant, to express our desire for adventure. Our peers doubted our dedication and whether this goal could have been accomplished. We not only completed the journey, but we grew from it. We now set course for the Bahamas feeling more motivated than ever before.

            We accomplished our first voyage on June 14th of last year, arriving in Connecticut. We endured harsh conditions, sailing 12 hours in a brutal storm in the final day. Naturally the Navigant took on damages and requires repair. To accomplish our next goal of sailing to the Bahamas we need to raise money for repairs and new equipment.

            We have learned and experienced so much on our first journey. There is nothing I can compare to sailing through the night on the open ocean and seeing a canvas of stars above me. Together as a team we have learned so much about perseverance, setting goals, and hard work. The crew and I would love nothing more than to continue our adventures this May by sailing to the Bahamas after we graduate from Washington College.
