Michael Herrera lived a life full of love, generosity, creativity and brought joy to every person who crossed his path. It is with great sadness we grieve the loss of his physical body, but his spirit will live in each and every one of us.
Unfortunately, as an independent creative artist, he had no life insurance and the family is in need of financial support to provide a proper Memorial service to honor his life and legacy and to cover the cost of cremation. Please consider making a contribution, no amount is too small.
Michael lived a life of service. He volunteered and shared his creativity with organizations such as Inner-City Arts, Hamilton High School Musical Theatre, the Heart & Soul Youth Artist Collective, LifeWorks and APLA.
With a career spanning over 40 years as a hair dresser, Michael took great care of his clients, many who became close friends and he saw as family. Whether he was doing a cut and color, designing wigs for a student production or a bride's hair for a wedding, Michael made each person feel special and seen. Not only did he want you to look good, he wanted you to feel joy.
He was also an incredible chef and baker. Anything Michael prepared in the kitchen was exquisite. He happily served as a prep cook at The Stalking Horse Restaurant the last 2 years.
Michael loved being a native Angeleno. No one knew this city better than he did. He would often gather family and friends to attend galleries, concerts, theatre events and cultural celebrations. He loved the Hollywood Bowl, Santa Monica Beach and free concerts at Pershing Square.
Michael Herrera was love, joy, creativity, hope and goodness. He was a giver and lived a life of gratitude. He made such a beautiful impact on so many lives, hopefully, including yours.
