Casey James is on a journey. Not your typical journey, like getting a new job or starting a new relationship, but a medical one: one that involves a very important organ called the kidney. Due to issues at birth, Casey was born with only one working kidney that functioned very poorly. At age 3, he had his first kidney transplant with his own mother acting as a donor. Casey and his mom's kidney defied the odds by making it through 23 years of life (significantly longer than the average transplanted kidney) but now, the time has come for Casey to go through the process of getting another new kidney as his first transplant reaches its final stages of life.

 

Soon, Casey will be going through the transplant process once again; but the grueling surgery is just the first step. Recovery will be both long and arduous and must be completed in the confines of Seattle, far from his Belfair home. During this time, Casey will be unable to work and will require round the clock care from his family, something that will be taxing for all people involved. It is for this reason that we (his friends and coworkers) have started this page.
