My name is Lucy. Almost 4 weeks ago my boyfriend, Marlon Givens, had a brain aneurysm. Luckily he was at our home when it happened and we were able to call 911. He had a malformed artery from birth - a ticking timebomb in his head - which broke suddenly.
Thanks to the excellent help at Harborview Hospital he made it through surgery and is now on a long road toward recovery.
Marlon is 16, a Junior at Nova Highschool in Seattle. He's a super sweet guy with the heart of a lion who likes art and skateboarding. This picture is from the day after surgery. He spent a couple weeks drifting in and out of consciousness from the painkillers and looking like this:
It's been very difficult seeing him this way but I go to the hospital daily to spend time with him. He is working so hard. And enduring so much. And his mom has been amazing. Consistently caring for him night and day. And now after 4 weeks he is just beginning to show enough improvement that he can be transferred to Children's Hospital to begin the hard work of learning to walk and use his muscles again. Here is what he looks like now. There is hope!!
His mom, Aja, has spent every night since the aneurysm in his hosptial room. She has been unable to work and has used all her vacation and sick leave.
This is a preliminary ask to cover initial costs of this life changing event.
-Aja needs help caring for Marlon's younger brother while she cares for Marlon.
-Aja could really use a reliable car to get back and forth to children's hospital once Marlon starts his lengthy rehabilitation.
-their Dog needs care
-She needs help paying back sick leave donations from coworkers
-Aja has lost income during these 4 weeks and counting.
-Think of this as 2 months of living expenses/rent/income and a reliable car to help get to and from Marlon easily while Aja cares for the rest of her family and maintains her job.
This has been a HUGE impact on his family. All of them mean so much to me, especially Marlon, so please help him and his family out. $10-$20-$100-$500 anything you can give!
Funds will transfer directly to Aja's account and be used only by her when she is ready to draw on this fund.
