The Guys in Brisbane

Nurses are strong, selfless and nuturing. A nurse continually gives themselves, their time, energy, empathy, compassion and skills to those who need it. It is what they do. It may be their job but they do it because it is who they are. Richie is a nurse at Lismore Base emergency department. He is everything described above and much more. He is a loving husband and a doting father. Richie and his amazing family have been dealt a pretty rotten card- his 11 year old son Miles has been diagnosed with cancer. It is a complicated case and requires immediate surgery and chemotherapy. The tables have turned and instead of Richie being the one to give the love, support and care he and is family are receiving it! The treatment Miles requires is in Brisbane at Lady Cliento and the family are going to be away from their Lismore home and unable to work. Richie is humble man and not one to make a fuss but in a time like this he and his family deserve all the support in the world. He is a part of a loving family at Lismore Base emergency department and everyone is here for him and his family but we are reaching out and asking if everyone could send some love and light and even some dollars to help ease the financial strain added to this awful situation.
