“Ozzie Isaiah was born with a rare condition: Anencephaly and an anterior encephalocele. Anencephaly means that his brain is underdeveloped and his skull is incomplete. The encephalocele is a portion of his brain that protrudes from where his skull didn’t close completely while in utero. From what we’ve been told, Ozzie has a full brainstem and part of a cerebellum which has of course made him viable for so long. During my pregnancy, we were told that these conditions are incompatible with life and the chances of him living after birth would be slim. Momentarily, our world was shaken and turned completely upside down. We were given the option to terminate our pregnancy which of course we declined because we knew God had bigger plans in store for us. Fast forward 3 months & Ozzie is doing remarkably well! Since he is doing so well we have decided to move forward & seek surgery to remove the encephalocele so that he can at least live the best possible life. Making the decision to go through with surgery was not an easy one, we prayed and asked God for an answer and He finally gave us one. We sought out a pediatric neurosurgeon at The Children’s Craniofacial Association in Dallas, Tx. who is willing to help us with Ozzie’s condition. We had an initial appointment December 21st & have scheduled a second consultation with the pediatric plastic surgeon on February 7th. Unfortunately, on January 4th, it seems that Ozzie’s encephalocele might have started to get infected so the need for surgery has become definite and urgent.” Anything you can donate would be a great help toward the family! They are truly one of the kindest and strongest families I have ever had the chance to know! They have helped out so many people in their life’s and have never ask for anything in return, they bring joy and laughter everywhere they go and I want that to continue!
