The Gift of Giving

As a little kid, I would pass by Los Angeles or drive by the freeway and see someone in need of help or they just need little cash to get them through the day. My father and little sister would always try to give them a dollar or two to help them get by, and I would stand there in admiration of them. My inspiration to start this was because of my boyfriend, Owen, who has a heart of gold and constantly gives when even he is struggling at times to get food or gas himself. It's never how much you give, but the fact that you give no matter what you have. My birthday is coming up and as a little girl until now I have always told myself that I wanted to help others in any kind of way. Turning 20, I feel like I haven't really reached any of these promises to myself and as a college student, you really have time for yourself to think more. I truly am grateful for the food I have every day and the shelter and water I can easily access every day without struggling. I know that there are others out there whether that be in America or third world countries who struggle to even have a warm bed to go to at night. Every year I do a little get together for my birthday, but for some reason this year I feel like there was something missing and there was no actual meaning, but simply yearly routine. I wanted to finally make a change this year, and start doing something that matters. I am raising this fundraiser with my little sister and Owen so any extra help from anyone would be amazing, to help bring a smile to those who might not have a place to go to during the holidays. We honestly would appreciate anything so that you could help us put a smile on someone this holiday! Honestly, this would be the best birthday gift ever!
