My husband, John Fucci Jr., and I have been happily married for eight (8) years. We met in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Police Academy in 2009. I have been with the Sheriff's for approximately fourteen (14) years, and currently at Property and Evidence. John has been with the Sheriff's Office for approximately eight (8) years, and currently at the 4th District, Day Watch 1.

We have struggled with infertility for approximately seven (7) years. In 2010, I lost my left fallopian tube, due to an infection and scar tissue. In 2013, I lost my right fallopian tube due to, not only to minor scar tissue, but also an Ectopic pregnancy.

We began our journey with In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in the beginning of 2016. We received two (2) different loans to pay for the IVF Procedure, for a total of $25,000.00. ($15,000.00 for the IVF procedure) and ($10,000.00 for Genetic testing for the embryos', medications, and medical bills). Our IVF process was a success with a total of eight (8) embryos' (4-boys, 4-girls).

We decided for the 1st IVF implantation, to pick a boy. We were absolutely thrilled when we found out we were finally pregnant with Graysen John Fucci. Little did we know our world would turn upside down! Graysen was born on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at six (6) months. He passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 (Christmas Eve), due to an infection his delicate body could not fight.

I attended four (4) separate follow-up doctor's appointments to inquire about if I could carry a baby again. The final result was my cervix was too short; therefore our only option would to obtain a Gestational Carrier.

Surrogate is someone who donates her egg and then subsequently carries the child; she is genetically linked to that baby. In the case of a Gestational Carrier, the woman carrying the pregnancy is in no way biologically related to the child she is carrying; the eggs and sperm are derived from the “intended parents” (or possibly an egg donor, or sperm donor), through the process of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The egg is fertilized in the lab, and then the embryo (or embryos) is placed into the uterus of the gestational carrier. Finding and using a gestational carrier can be complicated in some states.

Louisiana Law States:

-It is illegal for the "Intended Parents" to provide any money to the Gestational Carrier for only carrying the child. (She would be doing it from the goodness of her heart.)

-Must be between the ages of 30-35.

-Must have had one (1) child.

I posted a page on Facebook, looking for candidates that were interested in being a Gestational Carrier on our behalf. Out of all the interested candidates, we have chosen one. She is a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office 911 Assistant Supervisor (Night Watch).

On Monday, December 11, 2017, Judge Jansen, of the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Court, approved our Gestational Carrier contract, to proceed with the process of the IVF implantation.

She was implanted on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. As of Thursday, March 29, 2018, we are eight (8) weeks pregnant. We picked another boy!!

Everyone has a story, but this is ours:
