The Family of Mike Macy

Donation protected
We lost a dear brother today. Depending on who you are and where you lived, you may have known Mike as a friend from way back, or as a teacher, or as the missionary who moved his family across the sea so he could share Jesus with you. However it was, I have no doubt that Mike made an impression on you. He was an unforgettable man, and those of us who love him are reeling today.

Mike and his family--Amberlea, Mercy and Zion--had just arrived back in the states a few weeks ago for a much-needed four-month visit with friends and family around the country. Only two weeks into their trip, after a few days of feeling ill and a night of difficult breathing, Mike was taken to the ER last night where his heart stopped twice. They were able to revive him the first time, but not the second. He had been having a heart attack for several days, but that hadn't been apparent to anyone.

Just before this happened, the car they'd been traveling in had broken down and they were stranded for awhile. Amberlea and the kids are still in that predicament, only now they're also dealing with this tremendous loss.

That should be enough grief, but Amberlea is also battling stage 4 thyroid cancer. So on top of all the complicated arrangements facing her right now for Mike, she has to figure out transportation, and try to determine how and when to go back to the mission field, and somehow find a way to Thailand in November for a treatment she must have if she's to live longer for her children. That treatment--should her missionary insurance deny her coverage now that Mike is gone--costs $45,000.

These are people who left everything behind to go to a culture they didn't know, and who have absolutely poured themselves out to those God has put in their path. Even now, with what little resources they have, they've been supporting a family back in Nepal and fostering a few orphaned children. When I spoke with Amberlea tonight, her great worry was for them.

Would you please find a way to help Mike's family? May God bless you for anything you can do to help. They need many arms around them just now, and many prayers.
