The Christmas Miracle- Helping the Hepler’s

Donation protected
On Monday morning, December 10th, 2018, Andy Hepler was found by his wife Lori, nearly unresponsive due to a medical issue in which was not determined until reaching the hospital. Andy had developed Sepsis after a very intense infection which was located in his arm. Once Andy reached the hospital, he went into septic shock which began an even bigger issue. After the first emergency surgery, the doctors had found that the infection had traveled from the hand/ wrist up to the shoulder, into the chest and down the back. While in the first surgery, Andy lost a severe amount of blood, which dropped his blood pressure and pulse to dangerous levels, among many other vitals, causing him to be put on a ventilator and stopping the surgery in fear of him losing his life. Andy went into surgery the next day to have the arm cleaned/ scrapped once again to try  and eliminate the infection from spreading further. However, it was determined that the infection had completely eaten away the tissue and muscle in his arm, causing his arm to no longer be of assistance to his everyday life. On Wednesday, December 12th, Andy continued to fight for his life as his left arm was amputated up to the shoulder bone. Andy will have another surgery on Friday (December 14th) to insure the infection is out of the shoulder, chest and back area. He will then go through more procedures to close up the exposed shoulder bone along with a skin graph. After he has healed, Andy has a long road to recovery of therapy and learning how to adjust to a new life with only 1 arm. During this long period of time, his wife Lori will be going back and forth an hour each way to be at Andy’s side, along with making sure the bills at home and medically are taken care of, while balancing further obstacles with her husband. The Hepler family is so grateful to have Andy whom is a wonderful father, husband, soon to be grandfather and friend, at their side during Christmas time and further. The Hepler family is one of a kind that has given so much to others during times of need but are in need of support at this time. Anything that can be contributed to help Lori and the Hepler family support and focus on getting Andy well is so greatly appreciated. Please continue with positive vibes, thoughts and prayers as the long journey begins and proceeds for not only Andy, but Lori and the family as a whole.
