The Cartlidge family

Donation protected

On Monday 13th February 2017 one of the most unimaginable and horrendous accidents occurred changing the lives of one family.
Helena Cartlidge, aged 43 the wife of Roger and devoted mummy to Benjamin 2 was involved in a serious accident on the A500 in Stoke-on-Trent. The accident was between Helena's car and two HGV's.
As a result of the accident Helena remains in the critical care ward of the Royal Stoke University Hospital. She is stable but has serious injuries which include a bleed on her brain, a broken jaw and several injuries to her right leg. She has already undergone surgery and there is no doubt more to come plus a very long road to recovery ahead.
As if this wasn't tragic enough, Helena was 28 weeks pregnant, she was carrying a baby girl.
Due to the extent of her injuries she underwent an emergency Caesarean section but baby Estella didn't survive and she was still born. The loss of a child is a tragedy that no parent should have to go through but coupled with the circumstances and Helena's injuries it's just a terrible, terrible nightmare.
This wonderful family who have already had enough heartache and worry - Benjamin was born with a hole in the heart and has undergone operations and procedures  since his birth in January 2015.
The family have a massive journey ahead of them and the future is nothing like they had planned or wished. As Roger is self employed he will have to take time out to carry all the responsibility of looking after Benjamin and running the home as well as being Helena's "rock" along with her mum Linda and sister Katie.
Myself and other friends and neighbours feel we need to do something to help Helena, Roger and little Benjamin. This money raised will go a long way towards helping them with nursery fees and keeping Benjamin's world as normal as possible. Anything you can do to help us achieve our target would be massively appreciated, no family should go through this and we want to make sure they are not going through it alone.
