I am Michauxnee Kennan and am also The Busy Wife Personal Chef and Catering. I am fundraising to manifest the opportunity to open and run The Busy Wife as a small bar bites serving establishment out of an up and coming local bar in thriving Downtown Oakland.
At the very end of 2017 I lost my job. Actually, fired from my job as a Legal Secretary is accurate. Initially I was so distraught about the job loss and the affect it would have on my family, my finances, my marriage, I nearly forgot that I was not my JOB!
Also in 2017, I married the love of my life. Always the most supportive and kind man, he took my news of losing my job with a grain of salt and reminded me of who Michauxnee is. I did everything, raising kids, working for attorneys, running one to cheer, one to football, school functions, helping Grandma, babysitting my cousins and feeding everyone that would let me. He gave me the time I needed to sort out myself, and my doubts and see for myself clearly what he always saw in me. This man stepped ALL the way up for our little blended family. He took on a second full time job, sacrificing everything familiar to make sure our family could make it in this Bay Area economy all while moving a 17 year old to attend college in L.A. and nurture and raise a 12 and 5 year old. (Plus try to guide a grown kid!) He was tired and I was busy. The Busy Wife was established!
Six months into this job loss and new housewife life as I am searching frantically for, my husband asked me what did I WANT to do? What would allow me to make the kind of impact my heart yearned to give? That was easy. Feed folks.
June of 2018 I started my businesses. We had a little bit of money left over after paying bills and I used it to get my business license and insurance. I wanted to feed and nourish folks. Feeding folks is as natural as blood flowing through every vein in my body, and I had been doing that for many years. I wanted to give folks good food, but I wanted to also nourish their souls. I wanted, no, needed to spread love freely as well. With the way things have moved along, the universe was ready to respond!
Fast forward to today: The Busy Wife has been presented with the opportunity to have a place where folks can come get this love and this delicious food, along with some good drinks in a fabulous atmosphere with amazing vibe!
The Busy Wife has evolved y'all and will be setting up shop soon in Downtown Oakland!! Your support will be seed money for me to get started with my space and initial operations. I am overwhelmed by the thought of another chef thinking of me for this opportunity and I need your help to make it pop!!
