The Barber's IVF Journey

Donation protected
On July 26, 2015, (see their heartfelt, beautiful wedding https://youtu.be/kqqKZDNC_ls) , We watched her walked down the aisle and of her many names (Marissa, daughter, sister, friend…), one was being added that day, WIFE. We knew her heart wanted to add one more, MOM. Our pain is not like hers or theirs, but we long for that one more name to be added to our daughter’s many names and DAD to be added to our son-in-love’s many names as well. They are strong and courageous, but also very private. It was not an easy decision to ask you all to be a part of their journey, but in becoming part of their journey, you also become part of their testimony! Thank you on our entire family’s behalf for loving them through prayer and support. "Rejoice in HOPE", Romans 12:12 tells us. HOPE is what we cling to.

Love,

OUR STORY

We met in September 2013 at a missionary school, Youth With a Mission, in Adams, TN. We had both just graduated high school. A few weeks after meeting, Corben said “so this is not me proposing, but we’re going to get married.” And that was it, I was his forever. He was sure of himself and his convictions, and I wanted that in my life. We were married in July 2015. We had no intentions of waiting to have babies, so by December I thought “something is not right, why haven’t I gotten pregnant?” Around our first anniversary, I visited my family doctor and mentioned my concern, to which she scoffed at because I was only 21. “You have plenty of time.” She said. Another 6 months had passed when I finally visited a gynecologist. He decided I had PCOS, and should take a medication that might help regulate my cycle. After a year with this doctor, I went to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. I left my new patient appointment feeling hopeful and excited. He sounded optimistic that minimal treatment would be needed to get me pregnant. We did 6 months of treatment, including 3 IUI’s during 2018. I got pregnant my first IUI, and miscarried very early. The other two IUI’s were unsuccessful. The next step in our journey is unfortunately IVF- the big expensive acronym that we always hoped didn’t have to be part of our vocabulary. Sheer hopelessness can’t describe the pain of infertility. It is a loss of a dream. It’s an exclusive club you cannot join. It’s an attack on your very womanhood.

We are eternally grateful for any amount you bless us with to help make our dreams come true. This would not be possible without our dear friends and family opening their hands and hearts and deciding to be the answer to our prayers. We absolutely could never thank you enough for your generosity.

With Love and Gratitude,
Corben and Marissa Barber
