I am raising money to buy supplies and books to build tiny libraries in southeast Baltimore. Many people who live near me don't have access to books in their homes. I want people in my neighborhood to be able to enjoy reading, and I want to help younger kids as well.
With tiny libraries around them, people can look inside and find a book to entertain and educate themselves. Also, for little kids who just started reading, hopefully there is something inside the tiny library for them to read so that they can fall in love with reading while they grow up.
I want to build my first tiny library by the Patterson Park playground. I want to build this tiny library with a living roof made out of moss. It would help the environment and help beautify the playground.
Hopefully, if people like these when they're built, we can build more and put them all over Baltimore so that all people can have access to books and the ability to read.
With this money, I plan to buy materials to build three little libraries:
- plywood to build the structures
- plexiglass for see-through doors
- wood stain to beautify the structures
- hinges to allow them to swing open
- concrete to anchor the structures
- plants and mosses to create a green living roofs for the libraries
- nails and other materials to finish assembly
