The Azolla Story

Donation protected
We are a father and daughter who care deeply about the future of our planet, including that of our children and the other species who share our beautiful world. We believe that the path to the future lies in working with our fellow species, rather than against them, and that the way forward is to reconnect with nature and our roots.

Dr Jonathan Bujak is a paleontologist who has worked in the Arctic for more than 40 years. He was involved in the only two geological expeditions to the North Pole – the 1979 Lomonosov Ridge Experiment (LOREX) and the 2004 Arctic Coring Expedition (ACEX), which discovered the 50 million-year-old ‘Arctic Azolla Event’, shown in this video by SciShow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUnpHax9EwA

Alexandra is an environmental scientist whose university dissertation and publications document azolla's ability to draw down the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide and convert it into local, renewable livestock feed, food, biofertilizer and biofuel anywhere in the world.

Our book shows how the amazing plant called azolla can help us overcome the Perfect Storm - shortages of food, livestock feed, fertilizer, fuel and clean water - as our population grows by three million every week. It takes the reader on an exciting journey, beginning millions of years ago, to an optimistic future as we prepare to colonize other worlds – with the help of azolla!

Azolla has now been designated as a unique superorganism*, but its abilities are largely unrecognized in the West and unsupported in the East, so we set up the Azolla Foundation in 2012 to disseminate information about this wonder plant. The Foundation has tens of thousands of members, ranging from third-world farmers in Africa, South America, India and the Far East, to renowned scientists in Europe and North America, but we now want to tell more people about azolla through our book.

‘The Azolla Story' provides a wealth of information about this amazing plant and its uses as we journey with it through space and time. It is written in a way that is understandable and accessible to everyone, but we need a little help. We have finished writing the book and need to raise enough funds for final editing, cover design and publication.

Anyone who donates more than £5 GBP will receive an e-copy of the book after its publication in December 2018. Anyone who donates £50 GBP will also receive a signed hard copy, and those donating £100 GBP can have an extended skype consultation with the authors on any aspect of azolla.

You can visit the website that we set up for 'The Azolla Story’ to see the book’s contents (http://theazollastory.com/) or contact us by email for further information: [email redacted]

Thank you for your help and support.
