Terry Baker: Support His Fight
Donation protected
Terry Baker, owner-operator of Baker-Wright on Court Street in Portsmouth, has found himself in the fight of his life. Diagnosed in the past couple of weeks with Stage 4 cancer, he is battling to extend his life as long as possible. Unfortunately this means he is unable to open his auto repair business and earn the income he relied on for decades.
Approximately four years ago, Terry’s wife Bernice was deemed disabled due to debilitating migraines. Her monthly disability check is now their only source of income, leaving the couple to rely on credit to help keep up with everyday expenses as well as the astronomical costs of mounting medical expenses.
Terry Baker has been a part of the fabric of Portsmouth for decades. His grandfather started Baker-Wright in 1920. Terry became a full partner with his late father, David L. Baker, back in 1977 and by 1986 was full owner following his father’s retirement. Since then he has worked on the vehicles of countless regular customers. Local nonprofits always knew he was good for an oil change when they came calling for merchandise to benefit their fundraisers. He gave generously to them throughout the years.
Now it’s time for Terry’s friends, family members, customers and the community to open their hearts and contribute to him in this time of need. No gift is too small. The message each gift sends is more than monetary—it tells Terry Baker how much he means to so many.
