Teens On the Move Building Fund

I am reaching out to you and other members of the neighborhood and business community to provide a donation so that we have organized to raise awareness of the risks associated with childhood and adolescent obesity. We are raising money to provide outdoor exercise equipment and camps at our outdoor private park.
A portion of the donations will also go towards a newly constructed Performing Arts center (at 4340 Rolling Hill Drive) and college scholarships specifically designed for kids ages 10-17 who are struggling with obesity. The Performance Arts Center will be located at 4340 Rolling Hill Dr. The Parcel of land is 100% owned by T.O.M. and will be used 6 months out of the year for day and summer camps.
This Performing Arts Center will benefit our children to reach their potential. The Center will display their Art and crafts , music and dance. This will encompass all of their talents and give them the attention and confidence they need to succeed in the future.
The scholarships provided with your donation will go towards the selection of children that are within our organization. The scholarships will provide an opportunity for the children to have a solid foundation for college in the future.
Our 5-acre outdoor site is located on 4340 Rolling Hill Drive, adjacent to our location at 200 Montgomery Drive, only three miles from uptown Charlotte. Please visit rollinghillparkgrove.vpweb.com (currently under construction).
On completed, the Performing Arts center will also offer seminars and computer lab for research. Our objective is to open our first day and summer camps, with a recreational center in 2018. With at least 15 elementary, middle and high schools near our location, we have a direct opportunity to make a positive change in our community.
This project is in memory of a Rodney Hughley, my late Uncle, who died from complications due to obesity when he was only 48 years old.
Overweight children are much more likely to become overweight adults unless they adopt and maintain healthier patterns of eating and exercise. There are many health complications associated with obesity, including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, breathing problems, joint pain and hormonal changes. Child and adolescent obesity is also associated with an increased risk of emotional problems. With approximately 12.7 million children and teens now considered to be obese in the United States, the problem of childhood obesity is ominous.
Our support is critical in our effort to reverse this trend! An entire generation is at stake. Your donation/sponsorship will signal to the community – and just as importantly to your friends, family, and employees – that you are deeply invested in finding a way to help teens understand and take responsibility for their own health and well being.
