Donation protected
Teegan has joined the SkillsSquad representing fashion technology, a team made up of Australia’s most highly skilled tradesmen and women across 23 skills.

Teegan has earned her position following a rigorous selection process in conjunction with her medal winning performance at the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition held in Melbourne.

Teegan will now undergo intensive training over the next six months with the ultimate goal of securing her position as a 2017 Skillaroo which will be announced in July.

With your help we can provide Teegan with the best possible training to help her gain a spot in the 2017 Skillaroos team and represent WorldSkills Australia at the International Competition in Abu Dhabi.

If Teegan is successful she will become one of the elite young men and women who will join the *2017 Skillaroos team and have the opportunity to showcase, on the world’s stage, that Australia produces some of the best apprentices and skilled workers in the world**.

Often referred to as the Olympic Games for Skills and Trades, the WorldSkills International Competition will see the world’s best trade young men and women, from 76 nations, compete in 50 different categories for the title of World Champion.

To help Teegan secure her place on the 2017 Skillaroos team, she must first undergo an intensive training program and along with her mentors, category experts and a team of dedicated volunteers Teegan will train and develop her skills, her decision making abilities and build the resilience needed to compete against the world’s best.

With your help we can provide Teegan with the best possible opportunity to gain a spot in the *2017 Skillaroos team and represent WorldSkills Australia at the International Competition in Abu Dhabi in October 2017.

ABOUT TEEGAN:
Teegan is a determined young woman set to achieve her desire to become a creative fashion designer.

It was a visit to the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane to see a Valentino clothing exhibition when she was in year 10 in high school that first inspired Teegan.

“I was amazed by the exquisite beauty of the garments and knew at that moment I wanted to make garments just like Valentino.”

Her studies with TAFE QLD in Brisbane were instrumental in her drive to participate in WorldSkills. Thanks to her TAFE education, Teegan was equipped with confidence and knowledge of the design/production process as well as comprehensive portfolio which helped her find work.

WorldSkills has taught her the value of teamwork, being focused and essential time management skills – all crucial traits that will help her establish her career in fashion.

Teegan’s experience of winning Gold at the 2016 WorldSkills National was “indescribable”.  My next goal is to continue my training overseas and bring my new skills back to Australia to train the next batch of up and coming fashion designers.”

In addition to being a WorldSkills Medallist, Tegan is has also experienced glory in the sporting arena having been a National Champion in springboard platform diving!

*The 2017 Skillaroos team will be announced in July 2017.

** Australia is currently ranked 12th in the world and in 2017 we aspire to break into the top 10.
