#teamTaylor - Fight for Jim

Donation protected
This is Jim Taylor.  He is a wonderful man who is 50 years old and from Riley, KS.  He loves the outdoors - hunting, fishing, golfing, and even cutting wood.  Definitely a guy who  likes to stay busy whether it's with an activity he enjoys or just helping out friends and neighbors!  He has a wife of twenty-five years (Aug 2018) in Shari, who teaches math at the local high school and a son, Tosh, who is a Navy pilot preparing to "wing" this fall and get his F-18.

Jim is in the fight of his life.  Since diagnosis, his immediate goal is to see Tosh get winged.  His family & community have rallied around to support him in his fight and we are expanding to those that have not been able to help previously.

              . . . More about Jim's story . . .

In May 2017, Jim was diagnosed with stage IV cholangiocarcinoma - cancer of the bile duct located within the liver.  It had metastasized with lesions found on his liver, lungs, lymph nodes, kidney, rib cage, and pelvic girdle.  The cancer is unresectable and non-curable.  2% of diagnosed unresectable cholangiocarcinoma patients live 5 years.

In July 2017, Jim & Shari traveled to MD Anderson in Houston to hopefully qualify for a trial.  Unfortunately, the only option available was the same that was offered back home... chemo every other week for the rest of his life.  The prognosis = 12-15 months.  They traveled back home disappointed.

Thanks to Jim's chiropractor for introducing his neighbor & friend who had sought out an alternative treatment facility in Phoenix for his stage IV lung cancer.  Jim called up that gentleman and within a week (after much discussion and prayer) was in Phoenix to give the EuroMed Foundation his consent to treat.

Jim's treatment cost is around $7,000 per week at EuroMed, which includes:
      * 2 Insulin Potentiation Therapy treatments (insulin injection followed by 6 different chemo drugs and glucose first and third day),
      * 3 - alpha lipoic acid (once daily), Poly-MVA (multi-vitamin immunotherapy once a week),
      * 1 - Vitamin C bag once a week,
      * 2 - Vitamin B bags,
      * 2 - DMSO bags (dimethyl sulfoxide) after chemo,
      * 3 shots a day, daily
      * cholostrum, and numerous other vitamins, supplements, & treatments
NONE of which is covered by Kansas Blue Cross/Blue Shield - even though it has been requested to be reimbursed at 50% for out-of-network rates.

Jim spent 5 full months in Phoenix.  In December, he was doing so well, he started receiving treatment every other week.  If you want to check out EuroMed, here is their website:  https://www.euro-med.us/ .

          . . . and now, Jim has passed the 1 year milestone! . . .

These costs have drastically changed the family's financial situation, causing them to utilize all of their reserves and liquidate assets to get Jim the treatment he needs in order stay alive.

The benefit of these treatments isn't just lengthening life... it's lengthening life with a true quality of life.  Throughout this entire journey, Jim has been strong.  He has gone to Phoenix for treatments and flown home to immediately go back to work.  Jim is employed by Riley County Public Works as the Gravel Road Supervisor.

Perhaps Jim or the Taylor family has touched your life.  If you'd like to help, we ask for the following:

     * PRAY!  Please keep Jim, his family, and his treatment team in your prayers.

     * KEEP IN TOUCH!  Let Jim & family know they are in your thoughts by leaving a comment or adding a photo on this page.

     * GIVE!  Our goal to help this family is $18,000.  At $7,000 per week, this will help a bunch!

           . . . Let's help Jim with another year! . . .

Your help and generosity is greatly appreciated and so important!  We look forward to the day where there IS a cure for cancer so these treatments will no longer be necessary so Jim can declare a victory over cancer!

Photo of Jim, Shari, their son, Tosh and girlfriend Davita (also a Navy helicopter pilot) at Thanksgiving 2017.  Jim "moved" back home the same day Tosh & Davita arrived.  He had been in Phoenix since July 7 (less 10 days for a PET scan at home in September in which 4 days were spent driving).

Thank you for sharing in Jim's story and for responding as you are able.  Your thoughts, prayers and contributions are going to aid Jim in his fight!  May God Bless You!
