Team Orange Children's Book

I was twelve years old when the bullying started for me. Twitter, Facebook, and the bathroom walls told me that I wasn't good enough, I wasn't liked, and I shouldn't bother coming to school. School was my worst nightmare. My pain reached its peak when I received a phone call from my high school principal informing me that someone had written "Paige Glazier is a C***" in orange spray paint all over the front of my school. It hurt me more than I can express in words, but I knew I had to do something to change the situation - not only for me, but for others.

I believe bullying shouldn't be something that is addressed in high school. It's a devastating issue that needs to be prevented at the root, when a person is most easily taught correct behaviours... childhood. Thus, I've created a campaign called Team Orange. It is a program designed for elementary age children. With a team backing me every step, our mission is to eradicate bullying and its consequences by teaching INCLUSION, LOYALTY & RESPECT.

I have been presenting to elementary schools, have spoken at the 2015 We Day, and have been actively working on my 'Pro-Social Behaviour' campaign since 2013. While presentations can be incredibly influential on a child, I would like to take my campaign to the next step with a take-home message in the form of a children's book. One of the books will feature princesses, in which a princess is being bullied, but overcomes her tormentors by utilizing 'Pro-Social Behaviours'. The other book will feature superheroes, and a similar scenario with a clear message of INCLUSION, LOYALTY & RESPECT. I will be including information about the campaign within the books, as well as tips for both kids and parents/teachers – in order to ensure that my message reaches people in an impactful and lasting way.

My team and I hope to raise $10,000 in order to fund two children’s books. The money raised will all go directly to the funding of the book illustrations, and the costs of both publishing and printing. We would like to have raised the full $10,000 by August 31st 2016, as well as have the illustrations complete by that time. The release date for the books is currently set at the end of 2016, and we would be beyond grateful to anyone who helps us to achieve that goal by donating any amount of money. Every dollar goes towards raising awareness of positive behavior enforcement to children, with a mission of ending bullying once and for all. This means this world to me, Paige Glazier, as well as the full community at Team Orange. Thank you so much for supporting us and taking the time to read my story.
