We are going to the International Finals in Hungary, with your help!

This amazing team of six talented young engineers (13 – 15 years old) from Bath has recently won five awards at the annual Lego Robotics League, and has now been selected to represent Britain at the International Finals in Hungary!

This is a global science and technology competition in which 32,000 teams from 88 countries take part.  Team 'L2O' (Benjamin, Joshua, Alister, Monty, Fraser and Luther) designed, built and programmed a winning Lego robot, and researched, developed a winning project with an innovative solution to the real world problem of repairing leaky mains water pipes, which they presented at the competition.

See the team and their winning robot competing at the Nationals here.

Hear them on BBC Radio Bristol talking about the competition here (10 mins in).

Visit their website to find out more:  www.teamL2O.co.nf.

At the Regional Competition in Bristol they achieved:
    • 1st prize Robot Performance Award
    1st prize Project Award
    'Optima' Champion Robot Award

At the UK & Ireland National Competition they achieved:
    • 1st prize Robot Game Knockout Award
    1st prize Robot Design Award

Now they have the opportunity to go to the International Finals in Hungary in May but there is a registration fee of £2000 and the team has to pay for their own travel and accommodation.  Therefore they need your sponsorship to make this life-changing trip, thank you in advance for your support!

If any companies are interested in sponsoring this enthusiastic young team they can email us.  The team would be delighted to provide a demonstration of their robot and/or project, and could offer to display your logo on our T-shirts, banner, and pit stand at the finals, and hand out any branded giveaways you might have.  There will be 80 teams from all over the world, with many visitors and companies present, so it would give a huge international audience.

The boys all attend Ralph Allen School in Bath, they are ambitious self-starters and actually entered as an independent team - organising, planning and working together at home.  It would be great it you could help in supporting these talented young budding engineers!

Quote about Team L2O from a judge at the National Competition:
" ….the boys have shown great reliance, teamwork, communication skills & the ability to organise themselves. They have also demonstrated the First Lego League (FLL) core values of competition and gracious professionalism. I think the judges got it just right when presenting the team with their awards when they said, this team exemplifies the values of FLL."

Mandy Workman, FIRST® LEGO® League IET Education Manager, said:
“FIRST® LEGO® League allows young people to experience engineering in action. As well as bringing excitement to STEM subjects, the students get hands-on experience with robotics, and designing innovative solutions to real world problems. Developing computer programming, teamwork, problem-solving and communications skills has never been so much fun. The IET FIRST® LEGO® League gives students an insight into the creative and innovative careers that engineering offers.
There is a great need for young people with STEM skills to fill the next generation of engineering roles and the IET are excited to see such bright young engineering minds in action in the FIRST® LEGO® League competition.”
