HELP KELLEY FIGHT CANCER

Donation protected
As many of you know, my Father is Kelley Fox. The retired Superintendent of Electric and Water for the Village of Yellow Springs. During his employment with the Village, he was a volunteer Firefighter for 17 years,
assisting MTFR (Miami Township Fire and Rescue).

Although he is retired, he hasn’t stopped working. He has been employed at First Transit for a while now. Six months prior to his retirement to be exact. His duties there are to transport patients/individuals with mental/physical disabilities. He absolutely loves his job. On top of that we recently launched our family business known as Fox Trot Services, LLC. He’s been very busy maintaining his daily routine.

A few months ago he went in for a routine physical for First Transit. The doctor took a urine sample and ran a few other tests. Based on the results of those tests Community Physicians of Yellow Springs decided to refer my father to a cancer specialist in Beavercreek, Ohio. The specialist ran some tests and scheduled a bone marrow biopsy. He had the procedure on August 23rd. He was sedated for the procedure. The surgeon drilled into his bone in a portion of his lower back. He rested that evening and was back to work on the 24th at 6am. The doctor called and requested that he come in on the 30th. August 30th 2016, my Father was diagnosed with stage 2 Multiple Myeloma.

Multiple Myeloma is cancer of the plasma cells. The plasma cells are a type of white blood cell in the bone marrow. With this condition a group of plasma cells becomes cancerous and multiplies. The disease can damage the bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count. Treatments include medications, chemotherapy, corticosteroids, radiation, or a stem cell transplant.

He had an appointment with the head doctor at Ohio State University cancer center. Soon after that, he started chemotherapy. His first appointment for chemo was September 26th. He’s been on chemotherapy ever since.

The doctors are planning on admitting him into OSU medical center the beginning of January after the chemotherapy gets him in remission to get the process of his very first stem cell transplant stated.

He will be held in the hospital highly isolated for 2 straight weeks. His immune system will be completely eliminated. If you know anything about a stem cell transplant, you know it’s essentially wiping his immune system’s “memory” clean. He will then be out of work for months after that being only in his home because the risk for illness and infection will be very high if he travels outside of his home.

If you know my Father, you know he is the most independent individual you could ever meet. He never asks anyone for anything. But, he is already over his head in medical bills from the tests and chemo.

The last thing I want him worrying about is the financial burden of medical bills, living expenses, and the cost of future treatment.

With that being said, I’m reaching out to our community and beyond for help. Donate, like, share, or pray. Whatever you are capable of doing is beyond appreciated. Thank you in advance for all the love and support during this process.
