Ashlie's kidney fund

The Cause:

Ashlie was born on January 18th, 1989. When she was 13 years old, she went to the ER for flu like symptoms and there found out that she was in full blown kidney failure. Having no prior health issues, her ESRD is a total mystery.   A year after she found out she was sick, Ashlie started peritoneal dialysis before getting a kidney transplant in December 2005.  In 2007, Ashlie went into kidney failure for the second time and has been on dialysis 3 times a week ever since. The dialysis, while keeping her alive, also does numbers on her body.
Ashlie has a fistula in her right arm, and a bovine graft in her left. When her vein starts to narrow, they have to go in with a balloon and open it back up, otherwise it clots and closes off making dialysis painful and nearly impossible.  She's had several clots in her left arm and has had to have surgery every few months to open her vein back up. It's safe to say that Ashlie is ready to be done with dialysis, surgeries, pain, and doctor's appointment after doctor's appointment.

Despite Ashlie's health issues and her doctors telling her that she could not have children, Ashlie found out that she was pregnant in 2012.  Her doctors told her that pregnancy was too dangerous for her and that she was going to kill herself if she went forward with having this baby, and they advised her to abort. If you know Ashlie at all, you know that telling her she can't do something makes her want to do it more to prove people wrong.
27 weeks later, Ashlie went in for an emergency C-section and Landen Allen was brought into the world on April 25th, 2013. It was a long journey for mom and baby as Landen weighed only over one pound, couldn't breathe on his own, along with a dozen other issues that left little hope that this little miracle would survive.
Five long months in the NICU, multiple surgeries, and a colostomy bag, Landen went through more in his first year of life than most of us have to go through in our lifetime.
At the beginning of September, Landen was sent home on oxygen, but his hospital stays didn't end there. It's been a tough little life for these two, but God has made them so strong, and I'm happy to tell you that Landen is now a healthy happy toddler! Into everything just like every other toddler.
At the end of 2014, Ashlie was admitted to the hospital after going to the ER feeling abnormally sick. Her white blood cell count had plummeted causing her whole body to start shutting down organ by organ. Landen was taken care of by Ashlie's mom, who has been with them every step of this long journey both with Ashlie's health, and Landen's life. Only by God's grace did Ashlie walk out of inpatient care a whole month later. She almost died that time. Landen needs his mommy.  Ashlie needs this transplant.

The Fundraiser:

Hi, I'm Kacie! For those of you who don't know my relationship with Ashlie, let me share a little bit with you.
Ashlie and I have been friends for about 8 years, and regardless of her health issues, Ashlie has always been quite the fireball. Ashlie and I lost contact for a short while after I moved to Reno, about 60 miles east of Fallon, where Ashlie was currently living.
Ashlie contacted me when she found out that she was pregnant, and I became one of her biggest supporters. She started coming to church with me, and getting reconnected with my family.
When I got the call that Ashlie was going in for an emergency C-section, praying was all that I could do.
Going to the hospital, looking at that little infant no bigger than a taco bell burrito, the situation seemed hopeless, but I had to be hopeful and positive for Ashlie.
Ashlie moved in with my family for the duration of Landen's hospital stay, since she lived 60 miles from the hospital that he was in. Since that time, Ashlie and Landen have moved back to Fallon, where they continually drive back and forth to Reno where all their doctors appointments are.
Ashlie and Landen have been through more than a lot of us can even imagine, and I for one think it's time for a good change! A kidney transplant means no more dialysis, and hopefully no more surgery!

The Funds:

THEY FINALLY SAID YES!!!

Ashlie had her final evaluation at UCLA on 8/25 and after 10 long months of evaluations and what seemed like forever, Ashlie is finally going to be put on a transplant list!
Along with her mom, step-dad, and 3 year old son, Ashlie will be moving to LA very quickly, and we need to fundraise! Ashlie's insurance is going to cover all but 20% of the costs, but that leaves us with a need of $20,000 dollars, and every little bit helps. We're doing lots of fundraising, and we could use help!
