Metastatic Breast Cancer
They say to get the help you need you must admit you need help and you must ask for it. Well sadly I need help and I am asking for it today. My wife Becky age 51 was diagnosed with MBC metastatic breast cancer Stage 3 just over 3 months ago. She found that one thing no women ever wants to find a lump in her breast. This was not only scary it was devastating emotionally for her and our family. What do we do now was the big question? After sitting down with our primary and our oncologist it was recommended we do a bilateral Mastectomy (removal of both breasts along with any lymph nodes affected) and a regiment of chemotherapy and possibly radiation. What a decision that was to remove a part of you that played a role in your life as a woman. She is the bravest woman I have ever known. 26 years of marriage and she has never let me down. I have been blessed to have such a beautiful person to share my life with. 3rd chemo treatment in and things are going well but the cost are adding up and it's more than we can handle on our own. The cancer center is 150 miles round trip and its every 2 weeks for now and soon it will be every week. Prior to the diagnosis was all the test MRI's BONE SCANS, MAMOGRAMS and afterward was the surgery and chemo ports and more MRI's and Bone Scans in the near future, along with lab work at every chemo treatment. Our insurance will only cover so much, our deductible is high and our out of pocket is ridiculous not to mention a $500 (UPDATE: raised to $620 this month 7-10-18 due to open enrollment) a month premium and we have to cover 20% of what they don't pay...Update Cost is over $167,000 at this point which is not including radiation yet. UPDATE 7-13 18 just found out radiation is every day for 6 weeks. That's $20 a day to drive to Tallahassee and back. This is going to be a long and tough expensive journey so I graciously ask that you please help with whatever you can afford to give..and if you can't today maybe next week or next month. I also ask that you please share this with all of your friends and let them know this is helping to save a life that is so precious to me and my family and to her friends. We thank all of you and may God bless you. We send our love and many (((Hugs ))).+ Read More
An update and a great big thank you to all of you who have prayed for us donated to us and cooked for us. Today Becky starts her second week of radiation and we do it with an easier mind. As many of you know she has been working with Bealls Outlet for 31 years this coming December, and this year her annual bonus was very nice. We have prayed for prosperity since the beginning of her diagnosis and well it was answered. As I have discovered God works on his time, not mine. He may not meet your wants when you want it but he meets your needs when you need it. Along with the yearly bonus, the Cancer center has decided to help us with a weekly gas card. So now we will be able to cover all the upcoming expenses without having to continue the GoFundMe page. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank all of you. I hope someday we will be able to help each and every one of you as you have helped us. We ask that you continue to pray for us as we know God has been the savior for us during this difficult time. Love and (((HUGS))) to all.
Update ..about three weeks out from her last chemo treatment and Becky is so excited to see her hair starting to grow back...Although she did very well during these 20 chemo treatments and did not experience the "normal" side effects like nausea vomiting lethargy fatigue (she felt some fatigue but never missed a day of work) she is now feeling the dissipating of the drug Taxol leaking out her tear ducts and this burns her eyes and makes them itch. Although this is temporary it's quite aggravating. Becky will see her Radiation specialist tomorrow morning and have a few scans to determine the blast area of the radiation. They will schedule her for the coming weeks to continue the 7-week course of radiation on a daily basis. We have faith this will be a positive experience and we need your continued help financially and spiritually. Please continue your prayers and good thoughts and vibes this has uplifted Becky's spirits knowing she has so many supporters out there. Love and (((HUGS))) to all
Tomorrow is a big day, its Becky's last Chemo treatment. It is the 1st of two hurdles to get over and with your help we accomplished it...In a couple of weeks, we will battle the next hurdle and that is radiation. This is an everyday treatment except weekends for 6 weeks. This will be a 150-mile round trip every day to the cancer center in Tallahassee. All of the money raised here has now paid part of our share of the bills which as reached $ 167,000. This does not include the radiation treatments yet...So we are asking for your help once more. If for some reason you don't feel comfortable using this site you can send a gas card in any amount to 16832 beach road Perry Florida 32348. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
