Team Tessica

To say the Peters family has had more than their fair share of health struggles is a colossal understatement. Tessica and Mitch’s story began in 2011 shortly after the birth of their first child. Tessica went to the hospital for a fairly routine surgery. There were complications during the surgery and Tessica needed a blood transfusion to save her life. Things were going well until 2013  when their daughter, Gabby was diagnosed with ITP, a blood platelet disorder. She has had countless appointments for blood draws, was hospitalized for IVIG therapy and spent many nights in the Emergency Department for nosebleeds that wouldn’t stop. By 2015 Tessica was pregnant with their third child. She had complications during this pregnancy and was hospitalized for 5 weeks. Sawyer was born premature and had to spend 12 days in the NICU. Sawyer was a healthy baby boy until he was 8 months old. Out of nowhere he became critically ill and was back in the hospital fighting for his life. After months of illnesses and testing, Sawyer was diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation and has had several hospital stays in his 2 short years. Sawyer and Gabby are currently doing well, but they need ongoing medical care. Tessica and Mitch have witnessed their children suffer more than any parent should ever have to endure.


Tessica is now facing the fight of her life. On May 10th, Tessica went to the doctor for a follow-up appointment for what she thought was a bad infection in her breast. She was told that day she has Inflammatory Breast Cancer. This is a rare, aggressive cancer that is unlike most cancers in that there is no obvious lump. For this reason, it is often misdiagnosed and patients lose critical time to fight this disease. Tessica will be undergoing numerous tests and will determine her treatment plan in the next several days.


Tessica would move mountains to help those she loves. Now it’s time for us to move mountains for her. She would greatly appreciate any prayers you have to offer as she starts this new journey. If you are able, we would also love your help raising money to cover her medical expenses, travel costs and loss of wages while she undergoes treatment.


Through everything, Tessica has remained an inspiration to all who know her. This cancer doesn’t stand a chance against her!
