Team NZ to the Quidditch World Cup!

Donation protected
Quidditch is a rapidly growing multi-gendered, multi-skilled, multi-everything sport. Its inclusiveness is leaps and bounds ahead of any other sport in the world. There are many countries around the world that have city, regional and national Quidditch teams.

Each game of Quidditch has three chasers, two beaters, one seeker and one keeper per team on the field. The chaser and keeper jobs are to score goals with the quaffle (a volleyball). The beater job is to use the bludger (a dodge ball) to take opponents temporarily out of game play. The seeker is the player that will try to catch the golden snitch (a person with yellow shorts and a tennis ball hanging off the back).

United States, Australia and the UK in particular have a strong presence in the international Quidditch world and are forces to be reckoned with. As of the end of 2017, expats in these Quidditch nations and New Zealanders alike decided that the great island nation of New Zealand should put together a national team for the 2018 IQA World Cup in Florence, Italy.

There's a little issue, the young little lovable island nation tucked away in the corner of Middle Earth is a very long way away from the great ancient Tuscan brick of Florence, Italy. This is why members of 'The Black Brooms' New Zealand Quidditch team have decided to start a GoFundMe to gather up some moral and monetary support. The New Zealand government just hasn't discovered how awesome the sport is yet so it is not on the funding list.

Costs involved for the Black Brooms you will be helping with:

·         Player uniforms and equipment

·         Player flights to/from London (for a week of meeting and training together before the WC) [we may be being very optimistic about this one]

·         Accommodation during the team's time in London

·         Team flight from London to Florence, Italy

·         Transport to/from the WC venue

·         Accommodation during the team's time in Florence

·         IQA World Cup fees

·         Any other costs associated with representing New Zealand at an international level

But wait, what's in it for you? Apart from that warm fuzziness you will get from supporting us, whether we are your family, family friends, friends, friends of friends, fellow countrymen or even strangers, depending on how much you have to give you may get a special thank you for your support!

If you donate $10-$49 you will have the choice to be gifted with a cute little snail mail postcard or photograph of team NZ, signed by us with a personal message.

If you donate $50-$60 you will be gifted with a very groovy Quidditch NZ t-shirt (see update/post below for picture).

If you donate more than $60 you will be gifted with a team NZ signed and messaged post card or photograph and a Quidditch NZ t-shirt.

Once you donate I will get in contact with regards to sizing, your address and preferences.
