Team Mongolia -Gantumur Myagmardorj
Tax deductible
Gantumur Myagmardorj is going to Austria 2017. A multisport athlete, Gantumur is trying to live up to the legacy of his famous uncle -- and is quickly becoming a star among athletes in the still-new Mongolia Special Olympics Program. He has competed in track and field, table tennis, soccer, volleyball, swimming and basketball competitions (summer sports) as well as floorball, skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Soon after his diagnosis became clear, his parents really encouraged him to train in as many sports as possible as a way to help him learn more skills and grow as healthy as other children. And he has been training hard.
His uncle is Olympic Gold Medalist Dashnyam Luvsanlkhagva, one of the most famed athletes in Mongolia. He competed in 1960s and 1970s-era Olympics, winning multiple gold in short track skating. In fact, he was there for the 1964 Games -- the first time Mongolia competed in a Winter Olympics. These games were held in … Austria! Until his recent retirement, he was one of the most-sought after skating coaches in the region.
