Stroke of Luck

I am Hannah Lang and it is my hope to raise $500 for the National Stroke Association.  The National Stroke Association was founded in 1984 as the only national association devoted 100% to support stroke rehabilitation and prevention efforts.

As many of you know, my father suffered a stroke this past March.  He has been working tirelessly with therapists to reach full recovery.  Without the continued education, prevention, and support of organizations like the National Stroke Association, the stroke community would not have necessary means to work towards recovery.  

My mission is to rally people behind this cause by competing in the Grand Traverse.  My father's stroke took place on the Friday of the start of the race last year and there is truly no better way to mark this moment than racing to honor him and help an organization that has left an impact on my family. 

The Grand Traverse is a ritual race for a Butteian and is considered one of the most grueling ski mountaineering races.  My race partner and I will begin at midnight in Crested Butte and finish the 40 miles over the Elk Mountains in downtown Aspen.  With over 6,800 vertical feet of climbing, this race is surly not for the faint of heart.

One hundred percent of the money raised will go towards the National Stroke Association's mission of reducing the incidence and impact of stroke by developing compelling education and programs focused on prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and support for all impacted by stroke.
