Team Jayda Fights Cancer

On February 16, 2017, eight-year-old Jayda was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma , a rare cancerous tumor mostly found in children that grows in the bones or in the tissue around bones.  Since being diagnosed, Jayda has had a positive attitude and is confident that she can beat this disease and come out on top. Her only concern is losing her hair...which she’s been reassured that she will be able to get a bright pink wig.

Jayda started her journey on February 22 where she spent three straight days in the hospital receiving chemo treatments and then got to go home for a week. The following week she had outpatient chemo treatments every day, Monday-Friday. She then had two weeks off before starting the starting the cycle over again. This will happen for six months to shrink the tumor followed by surgery to remove the tumor in her right femur.  The cycle will then start again so the cancer doesn’t have a chance to come back. The whole process will take about 14 months.

More than likely Jayda will have physical therapy from surgery. The doctors and staff at Phoenix Children’s Hospital have been amazing and accommodating in making Jayda feel as comfortable as possible.

Jayda and her family are so thankful for the gifts that have poured in, however, the medical expenses have also started to pile up.  The family is very appreciative for any donations to help cover the costs. We are all in this together.
