At the age of 30 you never imagine what you think is a lingering cough could be Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We thank god every day for the doctor who ordered that x-ray of Jacob’s chest.
On 10/31/2018 Jacob’s life would forever change. On 10/31/2018 the fight of his life started, with many fears, unknowns, all in hearing those words you have cancer.
Jacob’s treatment started on 11/12/2018. He will need chemo every other week for a minimum of 12 treatments. He will be evaluated later to see if Radiation is needed.
As most people know you never expect to hear this kind of news and how it completely changes your world. People are always asking how we can help, what can we do. I wasn’t sure in the beginning if my brother would be too keen on me setting up a go fund me but after weeks of thinking on it he finally said yes. They are starting to see bills pile up from last year and now from this year and it is starting to be daunting. He hasn’t been able to return back to work yet and does not have short or long term disability to help cover his pay while he is out.
I’m setting a high goal for him because hey why not! This would help him pay for his medical bills for last year and cover a lot of his medical expenses for this year. We all know insurance is expensive and most of us even though we have it, the deductibles and out of pocket maximums are still insanely high. Let’s pull together and help my brother fight this beast without having to worry about paying for all of his bills.
To give you all insight into how he is doing today he is fighting and he is giving it his all. He was given a 60% chance of survival and in his own words “I don’t care what they say I’m going to beat this”. He recently finished his 7th treatment and the doctors are very hopeful given the progress they are seeing in his scans and blood work.
More than anything please continue to pray for him. The prayers are helping him stay strong through his treatment and are helping to heal his body from this ugly disease!
I also want to thank all of you who have already helped my brother whether it is in prayer, monetary, phone calls, text messages, meals, etc.
