Debra is a gentle soul who does things out of the kindness of her heart. She is admirable in so many ways and one of the best friends/coworker/sister/daughter anyone could hope for. In some way or another she has positively inspired her peers.
In late May, she became ill. Initially doctors assumed that she had Gallstones and proceeded with surgery. After her operation it was discovered that she had Gallbladder Cancer, that has spread to her liver, and has also caused issues with her bile ducts.
Since the diagnosis on June 6th she has had to drive to Grand Junction, Colorado then be driven by ambulance to Denver in which they performed an operation to place stints in her bile duct. Within a matter of days after arriving back home in Durango she had to fly back to Denver due to an infection from the previous operation. She has been in and out of the hospital since before the diagnosis.
Treatment will require Chemotherapy every two weeks for the next eight weeks, a surgery that is tentatively scheduled for October 1st, followed by bi-weekly Chemotherapy for six months.
Other measures include several doctors visits over the next year or so.
In addition to the stress from battling cancer, the financial burden is overwhelming. She remains in good spirit and has positive thoughts about the outcome however the last thing she needs to worry about during her journey to recovery is money. Funds will be used for gas, medical expenses, deductibles, and lost wages.
