BrightonStrong - Countdown to Transplant

On January 10, 2016, just one month before her 16th birthday, my daughter Brighton’s kidneys failed. She has two very rare disorders, C3GN - a kidney disorder; and CGD - a white blood cell disorder. In and of themselves they’re very rare (1-2:1 mil/4-5: 1 mil respectively), but no one, not even the NIH has seen them together. She had a very rough 1st year with dialysis, complicated by cardiac issues and frequent hospitalizations. She spent well over 18 weeks in the hospital. Since that time we have continued 3-4 day a week dialysis, frequent specialist appointments and homebound school. Over the course of 3 years, her heart has returned to normal function and she has stabilized on dialysis. FINALLY we’re on the road to transplant. 
I’m a single mom and a nurse, but with her demanding schedule and fragile condition, I haven’t been able to work. Just over a year ago I started my own home decor business, but the past 5 weeks, with all of the testing, clearances and the added bonus of some unanticipated out of pocket dental procedures, I haven’t been able to work at all like I need to in order to keep our heads above water. My priority right now is to get my sweet girl a new kidney.
