Teacher Trip to Finland

My name is Horace Buddoo and I am an educator who currently teaches high school mathematics in Pembroke Pines, FL.  I have have a passion for education and teaching.  As much as the U.S. had made progress in the last decade, I see first-hand (on a daily basis) why we are still ranked significantly lower than our European counterparts. 

I have an exciting opportunity to spend a week in Finland, which is currently ranked amongs the top five countries for primary and secondary education.  There is an educational tour that will take a group of educators from Boston, MA  to Helsinki, Finland to study and observe the operations of various schools from April 8-15.  We would visit comprehensive schools, primary schools, secondary schools, and specialized schools.  My goal is to immerse myself in the Finnish Educational system so that I can see in person what I have been reading about for years.  I plan to share this knowledge in the form of workshops, presentations, blogs, podcasts, and professional development opportunities that would be easily accessible to educators and education stakeholders.  I am especially passionate about bringing some ideas into low-income and Title 1 schools as well.   I am also working on a book.  I have always had a goal to impact education in a significant way. This opportunity will definitely help me to achieve that goal.

The money is needed for following:
