A New Home for Ms. Mamie

Don protégé
Ms. Mamie is an immigrant from West Africa. She came to America due to the war in her home country, which caused her extreme poverty, lose of family members and friends, her home being destroyed and her job as a teacher. Upon being in America, Ms. Mamie has been working with students who have special needs since 2002. She is dedicated to helping underprivileged youths regardless of race, creed, disability or income level. She is an asset to the district she serves in and her church community.

On October 27th Ms. Mamie’s home was destroyed due to a large fire in her homes kitchen. Ms. Mamie was unable to go back into her home and get any of her personal belongings. Since the fire, Ms. Mamie has been staying with distant relatives and friends on a very temporary basis. Although Ms. Mamie comes to work everyday on a city bus and deals with such major loss she works very hard everyday. Ms. Mamie wants nothing more than to feel stability in her life again but with no extra income she does not have enough finances to afford a home.

Although Ms. Mamie’s house burnt down and she sadly lost everything she owns, she still continues to show her faith during such a stressful and difficult time. Worrying about finances is an added burden that she ideally shouldn't have to deal with. We want to use this fund to help assist her in purchasing a new place to call home. Any donation, large or small is welcome and very much appreciated!
