Rachael's Medical Fund

As many of you know, my daughter Rachael recently found out that she is BRCA 2 Positive. This means she has a 90% risk of getting cancer, breast and ovarian. Rachael's OBGYN oncologist wants a prophylactic salpingo-oophorectomy, which is the removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes. This is planned to happen January 31 ( a lot sooner than she anticipated). The Dr. has also planned to have a prophylactic, bilateral mastectomy, which is the removal of both breasts with reconstruction to follow. That is to happen after Rachael heals from the first procedure. Both surgeries can reduce the risk of cancer by more than 90%.
Rachael will be out of work during the recovery time, and each operation has multiple procedures and follow up appointments. This means she will not be paid during this time. Rachael doesn't qualify for Short Term Disability or any financial compensation. Rachael's recovery time is 12 weeks total for both procedures hoping no complications a
Which brings me to this. Rachael normally wouldn't ask for any help; but because of the importance of this surgrey any amount given will go towards making sure her family can maintain their monthly bills and medical expenses that her insurance won't cover. Rachael is overwhelmed by all this, and her anxiety is high especially because January is right around the corner. She will not will not be able to pick up her boys, and will be uncomfortable for sometime but this has to be done. Rachael has seen first hand the strugglers I go through with Ovarian cancer and doesn't want that for her. She wants to beat this beast before it turns into cancer and gets her. As a mother, we want want our children healthy. I want to thank everyone for all your love and support. Rachael is a young mother who will do anything for her babies. Please if you can't donate. sharing this and prayers are appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mary Ellen
