Thanks for visiting Tausha's GoFundMe page. I am Allison Martinson, Tausha's sister-in-law. Tausha's brother Jay and I created this campaign to help offset the medical costs Tausha and Gary will have throughout Tausha's journey to get a new heart.
Tausha is officially on the list for a heart transplant. Her heart journey began in October 2008 when they found a blood clot in her heart. This incident caused slight damage to her heart and that point Tausha was told she had beginning stages of heart failure.
In May 2009, she had her first incident of VT (Ventricular Tachycardia) - a dangerous arrhythmia. They shocked Tausha to get her heart back in rhythm and implanted an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator) which was there to protect her if this heart rhythm was to happen again.
On May 5, 2018, Tausha had a cardiac arrest. The University of Minnesota team got her hooked up on the ECMO machine which saved her life. It was a miracle that Tausha pulled through such a traumatic incident and we thank God every day that she's still here with us! She was amazingly out of the hospital in 12 days. Unfortunately, Tausha's heart took a big hit with this one.
After more episodes of VT and numerous hospital stays, Tausha went in for a Right Heart Catheterization in November and the results showed that her heart was pumping at less than 50% of what it should be. It was on this hospital visit that Tausha's team of doctors/surgeons at the U of M decided that her heart failure was at the point where a heart transplant was the best option.
Now, we wait. It could be 2 weeks, 5 months or a year until a match is available for Tausha. We will continue to hope and pray that the perfect heart comes along soon so Tausha can live a long, happy, healthy life.
When the time does come, Tausha, Gary and their family will need prayers, love, and support. Of course, with a transplant, there will be a great number of medical costs as well that we'd love to help out with. Thank you for considering any size donation to help the family in this time of need.
