On Friday, January 11th doctors found a mass in Tanner’s pelvis along with about 20 other spots. By that afternoon Tanner was at the U of M where doctors reconfirmed that the mass in Tanner’s pelvis was most likely cancer. A biopsy was done later that day. On Monday, January 21st Tanner was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Unfortunately a PET scan showed that the cancer has metastasized to several places - right femur, both pelvic bones, spine, collarbones and lung. Tanner has a long road ahead of him. His treatment will be somewhere between 9 and 12 months long including chemo and most likely radiation.
Tanner is currently getting chemo every other week which requires him to stay in the hospital for 3-5 days. J has been staying with Tanner in the hospital and Sue visiting long hours during those weeks while also juggling work and keeping things at home afloat.
Tanner's treatment schedule will require both J and Sue to miss a lot of work over the next year. We are hoping to raise funds to ease the burden of any financial worry that could come with this decrease in income.
