Tamarindo Cares

$12,230 of $100,000 goal

Raised by 64 people in 8 months
Hurricane Nate in Costa Rica was devastating and tragically displaced those that were the poorest and vulnerable in our community. These people are the backbone of our community. Working people who live a very simple life and now the tiny bit that they had has all but disappeared. Many families lost EVERYTHING, rivers have washed away their homes and THEY REALLY NEED OUR HELP!!!

This is what MANY families are dealing with in our area...

We are Tamarindo Cares, created by a few longtime Tamarindo Locals in conjunction with a number of established community Non-Profit groups such as Dreamlife Alliance ( Hero Academy), Cepia and Adi.

Once we saw the immediate need for fundraising for the local community living in poverty that was horribly affected by Hurricane Nate, we knew we needed to act.

Families were without basic necessities... food, water, shelter, clothing,  school supplies, and medicine.

The "Tamarindo Cares" efforts will funnel 100% of the donated funds directly to the affected areas via three "on the ground" organizations: Tamarindo ADI, CEPIA, and HERO ACADEMY.

This is facilitated through a U.S 501c3 Registered Non-Profit Dreamlife Alliance whose project in Costa Rica is named Hero Academy.

Where does the money go?

The money is processed through the Dreamlife Alliance US Non-Profit  501 (c) (3) bank account and is overseen and audited by a board of directors (represented by ADI, Cepia and Hero Academy (DreamlifeAlliance).

We are incredibly grateful for the generous donations that have put us on the road to recovery. We have had numerous meetings with members of the relief efforts - Beachside Clinic, CEPIA, ADI Tamarindo, Dreamlife Alliance as Hero Academy. Together we have identified over 150 families that are in critical need of mattresses, beds, refrigerators, stoves, clothing, childrens uniforms, kitchen basics, hygiene supplies and food.

Out of 150 families, there are currently 14 confirmed cases of relocation. These families are no longer able to live so close to the rivers and have lost everything. We ask for your continued support so we can relocate these families to homes in safe areas. It is a difficult task and will require at least an additional $30,000.

We look forward to the rainy season ending soon here in Guanacaste so we can start to create long term solutions for the vulnerable areas including draining solutions, gutters and of course building safer homes for the underprivileged.
