Tiny heart. Big hope. Great cause. #TalonStrong
Tiny but mighty, Talon Thomas Perkins was born 6 weeks prematurely at only 2.14lbs and 15.75 inches long. Diagnosed with multiple congenital heart defects, he spent the first 3 months of his life in the hospital, has undergone countless procedures and tests, a cardiac catheterization, and two open heart surgeries to address the multiple holes in his heart and rare diagnosis of narrowing of both pulmonary veins.
Congenital heart disease is not an easy road for any family, full of both financial and emotional strain. Parents, Beth Smith Perkins (Transylvania University class '05) and Kyle Perkins (University of Kentucky class '04), walk this tough journey with courageous hope, strength and grace. In honor of Talon and in support of the Perkins family, college friends Katie Boaz Royse and Morgan Rye McDonald will run the Rock N' Roll Nashville Half Marathon on April 29th, 2017.
