Taco Carts On Every Corner

$2,265 of $2,000 goal

My‌ name is Dominic Prado, for the last year i've been cooking up some of the best tacos in the Bay Area. I run a street style cart called Tacos El Ulitimo Baile (The Last Dance). Now I'm trying to take my from scratch style to a wider audience.

In order to make this a full time job/business I need seed money in order to obtain licenses, liability insurance, kitchen time and permits.

With festival season around the corner I would like to have everything in order to go after bigger gigs and share the flavor.

Selling tacos is much more than a way to provide for myself. It's a way for me to connect with people from all backgrounds and hopefully serve them something memorable and put a smile on their face. It's a way to share my love for culture and service.

After 15+ years of trying to figure out what I'm good at and what is it that I want to do, I believe fate has provided an answer.

I started this out of necessity. I was out of a job and didn't know what to do next. I've always wanted to be my own boss but never had the initiative or maybe it was the setting. I'm forever indebted to the initial friends who helped my buy my grill. You know who you are. You'll never go hungry if I'm around.

One thing was for sure, I didn't want this to fizzle out like many of my grand ideas. I stayed with it, tried to get my recipes down and most importantly, i stayed consistent. I was given the opportunity to sell at a bar who said other pop ups were flakey. I took advantage of that and I never looked back, only forward.

My goal is in one year to purchase a trailer like the one on my Facebook cover photo. That means I'm going to work my ass off this year and by next year you'll probably see a bigger campaign to raise money beyond my network.

I could say a lot of what this experience has taught and given me but I'll say save that for next time. I'll just say this, there are few things more satisfying than people complimenting me on my tacos. The benefit I have is that I'm street level and I can communicate with the people. I don't need my tacos to be the best but they will always be good and memorable.

Much love and appreciation to everyone who has given money you've worked hard for. It's very moving. Y'all can count on me.
