GF Animal Shelter Needs Your Help

Hello, my name is Shelley and I'd like to introduce you to the City of Great Falls Animal Shelter located in Great Falls, MT. The shelter has 9 full time employees and over 125 volunteers. (I'm one of them !) The current shelter was built in the 1970's and serves an average of over 1,600+ animals a year.
A large project to expand is underway, it's called the HUG project (HELP US GROW). Seriously, whoever came up with that name is awesome !
Now for the serious stuff : One critical area where the Shelter desperately needs to make changes is the area for cats. The staff and volunteers do their very best to provide a safe, loving environment while the cats wait for their forever homes, but the area is very cramped and crowded. It's difficult for potential adopters to get to know the cats because there is no private area for meeting & bonding. There is NO area for play time & socializing, the cats spend 24 hours a day in their cages, and those cages are honestly pretty small. There are only 35 viewable cat cages that adopters can look at, but there are always many more cats being cared for at the Shelter & overcrowded conditions can make disease control difficult. This is a HUGE need !
I don't want to depress you, so now I'll share the good stuff : The expansion plans include a cattery that will provide over 90 very comfortable cat condos and a private room for playing, socializing with volunteers and getting to know potential adopters in a calm, safe environment. But that's not all ! The dog kennels will receive new doors, making viewing them much easier. A separate quarantine area will also be built - this will allow for the quality treatment of sick animals and help with disease control. They're not stopping there ! A grooming area will allow all the animals to be clean, groomed and smelling great so they can put their best paw forward and WOW their potential adopters with their good looks and fantastic personalities. As a volunteer, my goal is to help move this project forward by raising the necessary funds to get this expansion accomplished as soon as possible. These animals need our help !
