In Loving Memory of Vang Houa Thao

On Sunday April 26th, we received news that will forever change our lives. Vang whom was not only a brother to seven siblings but an uncle, cousin, and friend had passed away in Twin Cities.
Upon receiving the news, we knew that as a family we had to arrive at the scene immediately. After driving with anxiety for two hours, we finally arrived. Although we tried to remain calm we knew what horrible reality was waiting for us.
He went canoeing with two of his friends and when entering the middle of the lake, the canoe tipped over leaving all three helpless. Unfortunetly out of the three, our beloved brother was the only one who did not make it.
The medical examiner unzipped the bag and we saw the body of our brother… It was at that moment that reality pierced through our hearts leaving all of us in disbelief. Our brother was no longer with us. Our hearts were broken and our faces were drowned with tears. We asked God why him? He was a humorous person with such a bright future. He was ambitious and had so much more to achieve in life.
Vang Houa Thao was a wonderful person. He was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on October 29th, 1987. He is the son of Chong Choua Thao and Chee Lee Thao. He was the 4th child in a family of eight children and the eldest son. He excelled in school and received many awards. He graduated from the University of La Crosse - Wisconsin with a degree in Finance.
Our brother was a kind hearted, humble, and exceptional individual who had a very welcoming vibe. He was loved by many because his presence brought joy and happiness into so many lives.
The tragedy of this loss was that a person with so much potential was cut by the mortality of life.
But we rejoice and celebrate with the time we had with him. The memories we carry on; The legacy of his life will live through his friends and family. He will be dearly missed. The light that he touched us with will be carried in our hearts forever.
