Water Heater Replacement

It was 2am when I woke up to a partially flooded basement. I determined that my water heater had sprung a leak. Being a fairly handy guy, I figured I could repair it myself, but over the next few days of diagnostics and attempted repairs, determined that my water heater needed to be replaced.
I've done some online price browsing of water heaters, and called a few plumbers about installation prices, and determined that a new water heater and installation would cost $1000. Any extra money I may receive will be put towards fixing water damage and waterproofing the area around my new water heater to avoid future issues.
