FLAG Foreign Language Group
Donation protected
The Foreign Language Awareness Group (FLAG) was founded thirty years ago by a group of Westfield residents who believed in the value of world language enrichment program for elementary school children.
Their goal was to afford young students to discover the joy of learning a second language and gaining awareness of the rich heritages of cultures around the world. Since our founding, FLAG has engaged native speaking Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese and Mandarin instructors to teach thousands of children in small after-school classroom settings. FLAG has also enlisted the skillful aid of hundreds of Westfield High School students who serve as teachers' aids.
Up until now, FLAG has relied solely on its low-cost tuition fees to finance our nonprofit. To keep our program affordable, we are seeking the support of the Westfield community, parents and those who believe in the benefit of world language and culture education.
The funds will be used to offer additional teacher trainings, enrich the FLAG Curriculum, offer more generous scholarships and Awards to volunteer High School Teaching Assistants, and continue granting scholarships for local low-income families.
FLAG operates within the guidelines of the Westfield Parent Teacher Council and with long-standing support of Westfield public schools. As a non-profit, we strive to fulfill our mission by offering classes that are affordable to all.
* Since we are a non profit, donations are tax deductible.
