Hello Everyone!
My name is Jessica and I was diagnosed with Gastric Cancer Last month after getting a sleeve Gastrectomy for weight loss.
A year ago, I decided to take control of my body and decided to get a weight loss procedure to avoid taking steroids related to my Asthma. I had gone through all the necessary requirements and blood test and was approved for surgery. On April 10 2019, I finally got my weight loss surgery ( Laporoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy), which consisted of removing 80% of my stomach. 2 weeks after, I received the call informing me that a tumor was found in my stomach and that I needed to go see an Oncologist as soon as possible.
While still recovering from the previous procedure, I went ahead and booked an appointment with an oncologist who read me the results of the pathology done on the specimen removed from my stomach. Now we have to go for treatment. Chemotherapy and the removal of my entire stomach is the plan.
Even though I can partially pay for the treatment through my insurance, I still find myself short of $2200 to cover my medical and living expenses.
Every day someone is diagnosed with some sort of Cancer, and I am one of the lucky ones who are aware of their illness. I have a chance to fight it and thank everyone for taking the time to read my story and also for those who will donate in order to help me in this process.
